Just check this out!!!! I went out to get the mail and this is what I saw ....These pics were taken in a space of around 5 minutes. They are, in order: Looking West. Looking North. Looking South where the storm came from. And less than 5 minutes later from the back door. As you can see the rain is quite heavy and even though it was a short storm, after I checked the rain gauge, we had 40ml in about 20 minutes. That's 2 ml every minute, and it was heavy with a lot of wind. Now, 40 minutes or so later, the wind has dropped, the sun is out and can only hear distant thunder. This is Queensland summer weather at its best ... OR WORST!!
And as a postscript ... during the storm the temperature dropped from 35 to 22 in less than 10 minutes and the humidity rose from 52% to 87%!!!!! Now its back and climbing.

ReplyDeleteNo it wasn't preventable!!!! Everything was done that could be done to prevent the flood. There are a lot of people out there sitting high and dry bagging the Queensland Government about this. If they are so knowledgeable, why aren't they in a position to make recommendations and produce a flood safe Queensland??
